Dividers & Containers

Original Resource Link

Dividers indicate changes in subject matter within the same page. They can:

  • Break up content that is not visually heavy enough to distinguish itself from its neighboring content.
  • Break up content within layouts to give a rhythm when browsing large pages of content.
  • Add emphasis and call out specific tasks or information for users by tightly pairing dividers around small but important chunks of data.

Containers bring emphasis to important content. Please keep the following in mind when deciding to use a container:

  • Use sparingly, too many containers on a page causes excess noise.
  • Use color wisely, avoid using too many colored containers on one page.
  • Avoid putting the entire page content in a container.
